Play Well: Responsible Play at Morvanthe
Facets cost nothing and buy nothing, and the site is for adults only. That does not make the games harmless by default. Reels, cards and dice pull at attention in the same way whether the currency is money or points, so this page sets out the controls we built, how to use them and who to call when a game stops being fun.
Facets are points, not money
Everyone who visits gets facets for nothing. You cannot pay for more, swap them, send them to a friend or turn them into money, goods or anything of value, and there are no prizes of monetary value. Morvanthe has no shop, no in-app purchase, no membership fee and no adverts.
The games are still games of chance, and chance is very good at keeping people in their seats. Playing or success in these games does not imply future success at real-money gambling. Gambling with money is built so that the house comes out ahead, a loss there is a real loss, and practice here does nothing to change that.
Watch for the moment the games become a place to hide, a way to kill every quiet minute, or a rehearsal for betting with money. That moment is what the rest of this page is for.
Controls that live in your browser
No account is needed and none of these settings reach us. With storage accepted they stay on this device between visits; with storage rejected they reset when the tab closes. A break is the exception: it is always kept on the device, so it holds for as long as you set it.
Time check
At the interval you pick, a panel shows how long you have played, how many rounds and how many facets went in and came back, with a button to stop. Twenty minutes is the default.
Round cap
Choose how many rounds a session may have. Once you hit the number, every game declines to start another round until a new session begins in a fresh tab.
Facet limit
Decide how far down a session may go before it ends. Facets are free, but naming a loss limit before you start is a habit worth practising for any game of chance.
Break
Switch the games off on this device for a while. Everything else on the site keeps working. Breaks of two hours or longer run to the end; there is no way to cut them short here.
Calm mode
Turns off spinning reels, sliding tiles, card flips and races. Results simply appear. A plainer pace makes the passing minutes easier to notice.

To leave Morvanthe behind altogether, block it on the devices you use. Phones, browsers and most home routers have a setting for blocked websites, and blocking apps such as Gamban, listed further down, cover several devices at once.
Self-check, private to this page
Nine statements about the past year, counting both games and any gambling with money. Pick the answer that fits best. Your answers are added up in the page itself and disappear when you leave; we never see them. Treat the result as a nudge to reflect, not a verdict.
Warning signs
- You keep blowing through the stop time you chose.
- Boredom, worry, loneliness or a bad mood sends you straight to a game.
- You catch yourself thinking one more round will fix things.
- Free games have led to betting with money, or the money side has grown past your plan.
- Sleep, work, study or friends are getting less of your time.
- You hide how much you play or spend, or bristle when asked about it.
Most people recognise one of these now and then. When several show up together, or one keeps coming back, talk it over with someone you trust, your GP or one of the free services below.
Worried about a partner, parent or friend?
Families and friends can use the same services. GamCare and Gordon Moody both help people affected by someone else’s gambling, and an outside view often makes the hard conversation easier to start.
Blocking and self-exclusion
- GAMSTOP is free and shuts you out of every online gambling site and app licensed in Great Britain, for six months, a year or five years.
- Gamban installs on phones and computers and blocks gambling sites and apps on each of them.
- A growing number of UK banks offer a gambling block on cards, usually with a delay before it can be switched off again. Check your banking app.
- High-street betting shops, bingo halls and casinos run their own exclusion schemes; ask at the counter.
Free UK support, in confidence
- GamCare: the National Gambling Helpline, 0808 8020 133, free at any hour, plus online chat and counselling near you.
- Gordon Moody: residential and online treatment programmes, and help for families.
- Gambling Therapy: free online advice and peer forums, available in many languages.
- NHS: specialist gambling clinics in England; a GP can refer you.
- Gamblers Anonymous: meetings in person and online with people who understand.
- Samaritans: call 116 123, day or night, whenever things feel too much.
Young people
You must be 18 or over to use Morvanthe. The first visit asks for your age, and an answer of under 18 closes the site on that browser. Nothing here is made for children or marketed to them, and the artwork stays clear of cartoon characters. Parents who share devices with a teenager can block the site in the browser or router; Internet Matters explains how, device by device. Anyone under 18 who needs to talk can ring Childline on 0800 1111 or go to childline.org.uk.
Our commitments
- We will never sell anything here: no coin bundles, boosts, passes or paid extras.
- No log-in rewards, streaks, timers, limited offers or nudges to return.
- The chances in a game never shift with your results. Each game page prints the exact pay table it runs on.
- We say plainly when a round gives back less than it took: 4 back from a stake of 10 is reported as 4 back, below the stake.
- No sign-ups and no tracking; your play record stays in your browser.
- Every page carries the help organisations in its footer and the Pause key in its header.
If we fall short of any of these, tell us at care@morvanthe.co.uk and you will get a reply.
