Privacy notice

In one line: there are no accounts, trackers, adverts or analytics on Morvanthe, your game record lives in your own browser, and we only handle personal data when you choose to contact us.

1. Controller

Morvanthe decides how the personal data described below is used and is responsible for it. Contact: privacy@morvanthe.co.uk.

2. Data that never leaves your device

Local storage in your browser keeps your age answer, your storage choice and the end time of any break. If you press Accept, it also keeps your facets, stickers, rank and settings; press Reject and those go into session storage instead, which empties itself when the tab is closed. The current session’s start time, round count and facet totals always sit in session storage. We have no access to any of it. Each item is named in the Cookie Policy.

3. Server logs

Loading a page sends our web server the usual technical details: your IP address, the address requested, the date and time and your browser’s user agent string. The host keeps these logs for no more than 30 days for security and troubleshooting, then removes them. They are not used to build profiles, and they never change what a visitor is shown: everyone gets the same pages.

4. Messages you send

When you write through the contact form or by email, we keep your name, email address, topic and message in order to answer. To slow down spam, the form also stores a scrambled, one-way version of your IP address for about an hour. Correspondence is deleted twelve months after our last exchange.

5. Legal basis

Running a secure website and replying to messages rest on our legitimate interests. Keeping optional game data on your device rests on your consent, which you can withdraw whenever you like through "Change storage choice" at the foot of every page.

6. Who else sees it

Nobody, apart from our hosting company, which stores server logs and messages for us under a data processing contract, on servers located in the UK or the European Economic Area. We never sell or rent personal data.

7. Under-18s

Morvanthe is an adults-only site and does not set out to collect anything about people under 18. If you think a young person has sent us their details, let us know and we will erase them.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you may request a copy of your data, a correction or deletion, a restriction on its use, or object to how it is used. Send requests to privacy@morvanthe.co.uk and expect an answer within a month. The game data in your browser is entirely under your control: wipe it from the Stickers page or in your browser’s settings.

9. Raising a concern

Please come to us first if something about your data troubles you. You may also complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk, telephone 0303 123 1113.

10. Updates

Any change to this notice is marked by a new date above. Before we ever collected game data on a server or added a tracker, both this notice and the Cookie Policy would be rewritten first.
